Here is our bagpiper. He's the one who will tell you that the time for corrections has come. An invisible friend of us has designed a band of them for our blog, so let's thank him very much.
Whenever you see a bagpiper you have to start looking for mistakes as the teachers told you to do. Look for them, identify them and then correct them. Do it before writing the comments for the following chapter. That's all for now. see you
OK, now I'm going to try to correct the text that one of my classmates has done. I will correct it as better as I can, but I'm sorry if I correct something that was well done.
ReplyDelete- First of all, in the first paragraph he has written this sentence: "to say wich Scotlan and Galicia are similar in which they have three differents faces", but I think the correct is "I would say (or something similar, but without starting with a preposition) that (instead of "wich") Scotland and Galicia are similar in that (instead of "which") they have three different faces (adjectives can't be in plural)". After that, my classmate has written "mountainous", but I think the correct word would be "mountain".
- Secondly, in the second paragraph he has used "most famous than", but that's a grammar mistake. The correct sentence would be "more famous than". Then he has put "much in the mountains", but I think it's "a lot in the mountains". Finally in this paragraph, in the sentence "is very funny" the subject is missing. After the verb "come" we doesn't need a preposition. "They comes" is incorrect (the correct sentence would be "they come") and is "winter" instead of "winner".
- Eventually, in the third paragraph it's "bigger" instead of "biggest".
That's what I have been able to find.
Diego Pazos Castro 4ºB
In the second line he put smow anD is SNOW.In the 4 line i thik that is...high mountains OTHERS of the...in the line 9 i think that is PEOPLE HERE ALSO MADE CLIMBING OR SKIING WHEN THEY CAN.In the line 12 is FAMOUS and WHICH and the line 15 is OUR.In the line 18 is VERY.In the line 20 is TWENTY THOUSAND OF PEOPLE.In the line 24 is SCHOOL in the line 30 is BEFORE and the line 33 is OTHER.
ReplyDeleteThere are phrases that I do not understand but believe that are badly. For example``. But I think in Galicia these mountains didn't become as known as the Munros, so they aren't visited for thousand people´´``, but only about 95 of them people live´´
Ana Cepeda Cardona 4ºB
At the first paragraph, he has four mistakes:
ReplyDelete-Galicia has (he wrote “have”) less mountains…
-…the highest (he wrote “hightest”) mountain…
-…and the Scottish (he wrote “scotish”)…
-…highest (he wrote “hightest”) measures…
At the second paragraph, he has four mistakes:
-Galicia also has (he wrote “have”) some islands… (at the start of the sentence he wrote “In”)
-…and smaller (he wrote “smaler”) than…
- …the Scottish (he wrote “sctish”) islands.
At the third and the fourth paragraph I haven’t found any mistakes.
I’m sorry if I don’t correct well

After read the comment I have to say one thing and it’s that the structure, the content, the vocabulary and the way of saying the things it’s very good and very easy to understand.
ReplyDeleteIf we want to be perfectionist I have to say that there is one word that is badly written: “Scotish”, because it’s with two “t”.
But after read the comment once, and twice, and three times... I couldn’t find any mistake! So I have to add that the grammar point it’s very good to. Congratulations! :)
Andrea Patiño Vázquez 4ºB
I don't understand the verb "is worn",I think it would be better "is similar".
ReplyDeleteBecause I would change for "but".
Trevinca with capital lettre.
"The wildlife are" it has ti change for "the wildlife is".
"Because" is wrong. We should write but or although for one opposite idea.
"Galician" is (gallego) not "galiciens".
(Pallozas) is plural then the verb has to be "there are".
Samuel Rodríguez Novoa 4ºB
First, I think that Galicia and Scotland are different countries, but they are similar too.
ReplyDeleteAbout population, Scotland and Galicia are different, of course! There are more than 3 million people in Scotland than in Galicia, for example, but, about culture, they are too similar. Well, we have to begin for the start.
About territories, the "Highlands" are similar with the rural Galicia (some population, but not a lot; and too nice).
The Scottish "Islands" would be similar like the "Cies" or the "Ons", but they aren't very famous islands and they aren't very big.
In comparison, mountains are similar, big, old, green... But, in Galicia, mountains are taller than in Scotland.
In Scotland, there are crofts, but in Galicia, there are "pallozas", or "castros". These names are famous in Galicia, and traditional too.
In the highlands, there is one special culture, and it includes things like the Gaelic language, foods and sports, for example. In the center of Galicia (inside), there is also a language, the Galician, that it is speaking plus in the center and uninhabited zones of Galicia. There are traditions like the "Queimada" and food like the "Lacón con grelos". These products are very famous in Galicia.
There are monuments like the "Castros" and the "Pallozas", but there are more, like the "Menhires", the "Petroglifos", the "Dolmens",etc. And if in Scotland there are castles, in Galicia too: the Vimianzo castle, the Baiona castle, San Anton castle in Coruña...And there are famous churchs like the Rosslyn Capel, for example, the Santiago cathedral, the "Virgen de la Barca" church, the cathedral of Lugo, etc. If in Scotland are a lot of castles, in Galicia there are a lot of churchs!
There are many monuments in Galicia: lighthouses, specific mounts, sanctuaries and the "Monasterios".
I know that Scotland and Galicia are very similar in animals because the animals that there are at the top, they are also here. And about the flora, I think that Scotland and Galicia have got a similar climate, and for this, the flora between them are not different enough.
Alberto´s correction
Fabio Veiga Rey, 4ºA
-In the first line she put Escotland and is Scotland.
ReplyDelete-She put "Scotland has seemed with Galicia as for example them mountains..."I think which is "Scotland has seemed with Galicia in the mountains, for example."
-Later, she put "the mountains of Galicia are higher that them of Scotland"I think which is "the mountains of Galicia are higher than Scotland".
-In the line 12 she put "islad" and is "island".
-I don´t know the line 15 and 16.
The rest I think that this well
If I correct something that was well done I sorry.
Santiago Sardiña 4ºB
I think that the mistakes of the text are of expresion not for the grammar.
ReplyDeleteFor example I destacated "The Scottish fauna is different than the Galician, but the fauna is very similar too." different and similar it´s a extrange conbination.
I only see mistake for the style.
Damián Regueiro Fuentes 4ºB
I think that the text of Nahir Kusznieryk 4 º A, hasn't reference to mistakes in grammar or expression.
ReplyDeleteJust mistakes in any capital letter or stops or commas.
For example:
"Scotland has three languages: English, SCots and Gaelic."She wrote SCots, instead of Scots.
or...
"they are the Dolmens, There are very similar."
She wrote capital letter after comma.
I only see this mistakes.
Ayla Couto Miranda 4ºA
I read the ayla's comment.
ReplyDeleteI think "as" should be "like" and I think in the 4 paragraph should be Scotland has many mountains and trails for climing and walking which in winter can be difficult for this.
Sorry, but i don't understand "We be seen in galician"
The rest i think is good.
Nahir Kusznieryk 4ºA
I go to correct david's comment
ReplyDeletehe says play sky, and it's ski
he says to eat or to walk or to see the landscape. and you can't say to to to to, it's to eat or walk or see the landscape
Manuel Martínez Iglesias 4ºA
First of all, I’m going to correct Sergio’s mistakes.
ReplyDeleteThe first mistake I’ve found was in the third paragraph. He wrote: “[…]but the most importants island in Galicia are[…]”. I think he has two words wrong in this sentence. In English, adjectives are similar in plural and in singular, so the word “importants” doesn’t exist. Then, he wrote “island in Galicia are”, the subject is a singular noun and the verb is written in plural, so the sentence would be: “[…]but the most important islands in Galicia are[…]”.
Secondly, in the second paragraph, he wrote “[…]here in Galicia's island is the same, there aren't many childs and[…]”. First, I think he wanted to say that in all the Galician islands the life is similar, not only in an island. Then, he wrote “childs” and this word is wrong, the plural of child is children. Moreover, I’m not sure but I think “Galician Islands” is better than “Galicia’s Islands” so the sentence would be “[…]here in Galician islands is the same, there aren’t many children and[…]”.
Then, he wrote “inusual” and it would be “unusual”.
Finally, he used the word "sepulchure”. I didn’t know this word, so I searched it but I didn’t found anything, so I don’t know if it’s correct.
To sum up, I think he did a good job. Sorry if I corrected something that was well done.
Fran Fernández Huerta 4thA
Hi, I'm goingo to correct Fran's essay:
ReplyDeleteIn the first paragraph he wrote " I'm going to make a comparison on the physical beauty of Galcia and Scotland.", here, the mistake is "on the physical beauty...", it should be "of the physical beauty...".
The second mistake is "we can see three languages,...", it should be "they have (or speak)three languages.
Another mistake is "In Scotland, there are over 750 islands,...", here the mistake is the "over", it should be "about" or "more than".
In the same paragraph we can see "...people who live in centric towns." the correct adjective is "central" not "centric".
I found a mistake in the phrase "I think it's so boring...", the mistake isthe "it's", it should be "That is" or "Must be".
And in the last paragraph there are a few mistakes too, like "farmers" (what you want to say is "livestock farmers, it means ganadero in Spanish), "behavior" (it's behaviour).
I think the essay is quite good, but I'd include more linkers, like despite, althoug, etc.
Sergio Bugallo Enjamio 4ºA
I'm going to correct sergio simarros's mistakes:
ReplyDeleteI can see only a mistake. he says cabeza de manzana nad it's cabeza de manzaneda. but, maybe there is other mistake: ther is a word that I don't know what it means. it is occur.
fernando martínez munín 4º A
There are many mountains in Scotland and very high but there are galicia biggest and most beautiful as the Galician massif. most of the mountains of Galicia are higher than those of Scotland.
ReplyDeletelike Scotland, in Galicia there are islands, the best islands in the world, full of wildlife and vegetation (galicia fauna is very different from Scotland).
The weather in Galicia is very similar to Scotland because there are very cold during winter and high rainfall, both has a maritime climate.
galicia in traditional houses are not like croftings. here, there are forts (forts) and cottages (houses) where people lived did not have much money and engaged in live cattle.
in Galicia there are many monuments like the Cathedral of Santiago (in the plaza of Obradorio), the Tower of Hercules and many more. but there are also important things like the Camino de Santiago, known virtually worldwide, involving many pilgrims.
Well, that's all, hope you like a teacher. indeed, Galicia in a nice place in which there are millions of things to visit very beautiful, I recommend it.
This text if from Fernando, and i'll check it.
I found some mistakes:
1- In the first phrase the adjective ''high'' goes before the noun ''mountains''.
2- The second phrase is ''but in Galicia there are the biggest and the most beautiful massif.
3- galicia fauna... should be... the Galican fauna is...
4-Talking about the weather, Fer said '' because there are very cold'' and i think that it's ''because it's very cold'' and after, he says ''both has..'' and i think ''both of them has..''
5-He said ''galicia in traditional houses'' and it's ''The traditional houses of Galicia''
6-He said ''where people lived did no have money'' and it's ''where people who haven't money were living''
7-In the last pharagraph he said'' Hope you like a teacher'' and you must suprime the ''a''
8-Also in the last phrase he said''Galicia in a nice place'' and it's ''Galicia is a nice place''
I don't found any mistake

I read the Julian´s comment.
ReplyDeleteI think Julian only has one mistake.
When he says "Scotland and Galician have similar musical instrument" I think it is "Scotland and Galician have similar musical instruments" with "s".
Cristina Fuertes Canosa 4º A
At the first line she forgot the subject she wrotte: The high are inside, it should be the high mountain are iside.
ReplyDeleteshe said these are small... at the eighth line and i think that it should be these houses are small...
And at the ninth line she said Scoctland when it is Scotland
I don't find any more mistakes
David Vázquez 4ºB
In the first paragraph he wrote (scotland abd galician are two comunity, very similar, because Scotland and Galician are agree on the musical instrument: the bagpipes.)and I think that is scotland and Galicia are two comunities, very similars, because in Scotland like as Galicia the traditional instrument is the bagpipe.
ReplyDeleteHe continued to write, but I don't know what it says in the rest of paragraph.I'm sorry.
Fátima Rial 4ºB
I don't found any mistake in the comment of Uxio.
ReplyDeleteBorja Varela 4ºA
I read Julian´s comment.
ReplyDeleteWhen he says "People in Scotland speak Gaeli" I think is "People in Scotland speak Gaelic".When he says "A Kilt is a clothe in Scotland" I think it is" A Kilt is a tipical clothe in Scotland".When he says "Bagpipes, They are the traditional Scottish music"I think is "Bagpipes, They are traditional musical intruments in Scotland". And he wrote bad whisky.
Cristina Fuertes Canosa 4ªA
Adrian's correction.
ReplyDeleteFirst:
He said, "lived in villages" instead "live.."
he put "escocia" instead "Scotland" and "Gaelico" instead "Gaelic".
He said "In Galicia not hai a simblo like the kilt to what to gown it refers" instead "In Galicia there isn't a symbol like the kilt, you can wear"
"in Galicia it is used for typical music of Galicia are as muñeiras" and he should put "in Galicia it's used for typical muscic like 'muñeira'"
"One of the national drinks Scotland is the Whiskey" and he didn't put "in" between drinks and Scotland. And finally he put "where as" instead "whereas".
Second:
"there are one special culture" and the correct form is " there's one special culture"

There was someone who didn't write her/his name at the end when correcting her/his partner's comment. Can you tell me who that person is, please?

The mistakes that I found are:
ReplyDeleteIn the phrase “the mountains in Galicia isn’t (…)” It’s” aren’t”, not “isn’t”, because he talk about the mountains.
It’s popular, not populars.
It’s big, not bigs.
It’s private, not privated.
